Story: 139 main apartments is the result of a public-private joint venture between the city and the property owner. A plan was developed to create 37 apartments, retail, and a pedestrian walkway in the place of a dilapidated building.
We worked with the developer and the city to collaboratively establish a connection between Downtown Rock Hill's Main Street and Market Hall. A specially crafted mural walkway connecting a large public parking lot with the businesses on Main Street illustrates the history of Rock Hill and invites pedestrians into Market Hall. Most importantly, the solution met both public and private goals by creating a space that enriches both the public experience and the urban environment.
