Support Facilities

Like many large institutional organizations, healthcare systems require facilities for a multitude of activities not limited to just patient treatment and care. These support facilities are required for general administrative office uses, education and training purposes, and many back-of-house functions. These facilities are most prevalent on, or near, a hospital campus, but just as often located in existing office and business parks positioned throughout the community – such is the case with Carolinas HealthCare System facilities.

FMK Architects has completed hundreds of thousands of square feet of support facilities for Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC. These facilities include the CHS-Executive Suite located at The Metropolitan, the recently completed CMC/UNC School of Medicine located on the Carolinas Medical Center campus, and the CHS-Broadcast Studio at the Airport Center Business Park. While much more akin to commercial interior design than specialized healthcare facilities, these support facilities serve as equally important functions to the greater institutional organization.
